About William

bio wrsWilliam Schroeder established his Boston-based design firm, W.R. Schroeder Interiors, in 2009 after a decade of experience in the design industry working with several well-known Boston design firms including the renowned designer Roger Lussier and managing the textiles department of Webster & Company. William is making his design talents available to clients through his own firm, which will focus on interior design, accessorizing, staging and urban garden design. William’s background in art history has given him a unique perspective for design and gives his interiors a sense of historical importance.

William strives to create custom-tailored interiors for his clients that reflect their personal taste and individuality. He believes in working closely with each client and sharing ideas to articulate their vision of the space. William often mixes classic and contemporary elements to create harmonious spaces that reflect a timeless style. Sumptuous fabrics are often used unexpectedly to achieve richness in a casual way. Texture and thoughtful use of color are important considerations that are incorporated into every project.

William believes that objects tell a story and become alive in their environment. His design philosophy is that truly beautiful design is often intangible and can only be articulated through the sum of its parts. It is for this reason that art and accessories are at the heart of William’s aesthetic. In all of his interiors, William highlights decorative objects and art to create luminous spaces. Working with clients’ own collections or sourcing art and objects from multiple sources, William will create an interior that truly reflects the taste of the client and their vision into reality. W.R. Schroeder interiors offers many services to meet clients’ needs. William will execute full scale project management on existing and new construction and work from on-site measurements and architectural plans to create furniture layouts and design schemes for the entire space including kitchen and bathroom design. Other services include custom furniture design, space planning and color consultation, art sourcing, styling and staging for private events, as well as small-scale landscape design for urban spaces. William believes in a close, working relationship and encourages his clients to be involved with the design process, asking questions and sharing their vision, ideas and inspiration.

Recent projects have included a home in Solana Beach, CA, a pied-a-terre in New York City, a contemporary loft space in Boston, an office in Cambridge, MA and a cottage in the Welsh countryside.
