Sophistication in a Surfing Town

Classic California meets
Mid-Century Modern

This classic California Bungalow blends traditional and contemporary styles to create an eclectic interior. Italian antiques contrast with iconic Mid-Century pieces such as the Mies van der Rohe Barcelona chairs.  Windows were left bare to maximize views of the ocean and the sunken Mediterranean-style garden.  The original hardwood floors were replaced with Mexican terracotta to give the home a sense of coolness and authenticity reminiscent of Old California.

Many pieces from the clients’ New York apartment were incorporated into the California house and were integrated into the existing floor plan.
